EXPERIENCE THE SOOTHING, UPLIFTING, AND THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS OF TOUCH, SOUND, AND SCENT

Bring calmness and relaxation to your body and mind through the sensorial experience of massage, sound healing, Reiki and aromatherapy. Experience the soothing, uplifting and therapeutic effects of touch, sound and scent.

I am certified in holistic massage and neuromuscular massage therapy and I hold a keen interest in sports massage, preventing and treating injuries with the help of  holistic therapies. In 2016 I started my initiation process with the Usui System of Natural Healing in Reiki Energy Healing, which ended in December 2023 with the mastery. I also use aromatherapy and healing sounds in my daily life and during yoga and massage therapy sessions to enhance the experience of the practitioner.

SOME BENEFITS OF MASSAGE THERAPY:

  • Improves blood flow to the targeted areas & to the entire body.

  • The lymphatic system is stimulated, helping toxins leave the body more efficiently.

  • Calms the mind, promotes relaxation and overall well-being.

  • Relieves muscular tension, tightness and knots.

  • Reduces stress levels and anxiety.

WHAT IS A HOLISTIC MASSAGE:

This type of massage is based on the Swedish system using classical massage techniques such as effleurage, petrissage and percussion. It was developed by Per Henrik Ling, a physiologist and fencing master who created a system of movements to maintain his physical condition and improve his overall health. A holistic massage is a whole body massage designed to stimulate every system in the body. The various massage techniques soothe and warm up the muscles, alleviate muscular tension, loosen tightness around the joints, improve blood and lymph circulation and induce relaxation.

  • Effleurage: soothing and relaxing strokes which improve circulation.

  • Petrissage: kneading and rubbing movements to manipulate and stretch tissues and muscles.

  • Percussion: brisk, invigorating and energising strokes where the hands tap the body rapidly and suddenly. This technique helps break fatty deposits, improves circulation and invigorates the nerves.

NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE THERAPY (ALSO KNOWN AS TRIGGER POINT):

A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. This form of massage aims at releasing tight and/or tender spots and nodules by first identifying their location, working the area surrounding them and subsequently applying a specific cycle of pressure – within the client's level of discomfort. This creates a release directly on the deeper fibers. Neuromuscular massage therapy frees up constricted areas in the body and naturally decreases pain and stress from chronic injuries.

REIKI  ENERGY HEALING

Reiki is a Japanese name formed of two syllables: Rei, universal force from which arises life, that which sees, the breath of life and Ki, the life force, the energy which manifests itself in our physical body. Reiki is the canalization and transmission of this energy through the positioning of the hands on the body. A Reiki treatment restores and stimulates the immune system, aches are alleviated or disappear, the body's healing process is speeded up. As the body is freed of toxins it is purified and regenerates itself, reviving the will and courage to live. Reiki also acts as prevention of disease.

TIBETAN BOWLS, SOUND THERAPY

The human body is made up, more or less, of 60% water. It is therefore not surprising that our tissues respond to sound and its vibrations. Tibetan bowls, bells and other instruments are a wonderful way to stimulate and soothe the nervous system. Tibetan bowls  can be "played" to support a meditative state, and/or be placed on the body to intensify the sensation of the vibrations outside and inside the body and increase their healing effects. Chanting is also a great way to create inner vibrations, de-stress the body, quiet an over-active mind and develop our capacity to listen and be present.

AROMATHERAPY

My next certification will be in the beautiful art of aromatherapy, I have been using essential oils in my daily life for years and learning about them for a very long time. Using all our senses to experience life, heal and/or restore harmony within us is a part of holistic living. Our senses allow us to experience our environment, situations and ourselves from different perspectives, gathering as many information as possible so that we can tune in to our needs and wants more efficiently. Each sense organ stimulates our nervous system in a very unique way, and generates responses that expands our spectrum of sensations and emotions. When we spend time cultivating the relationship we have with our senses, we develop the capacity to listen to the messages our body constantly sends us more attentively and learn to trust our intuition.
