Three-Day Summer Solstice Fast

I decided to do a three-day fast to celebrate the summer solstice and the changing of seasons; it is now a tradition of sorts. I have been doing this for the past 5 years, maybe even more. It's a meditation that gives me so much physically, yes, but also mentally and emotionally. As much as possible, I aim to sync my fasting days with the change of seasons, but it has fallen a few days short from time to time because, well, I do have a life outside of meditation and fasting–this blog may make it look like I spend most of my life fasting and meditating; I don't :D.
Anyhow, I am fasting for the summer solstice, from the 20th until the 22nd of June.
Day One 20/06/2026
My last meal was last night, and today I am doing a dry fast. I'll see how it goes because a severe heatwave has been announced for this weekend, with temperatures reaching up to 39 °C on Monday.
Today went well, despite the heat. I dry fasted all day from 6 am until 8 pm; I had a glass of water at the end of the day because I felt my body needed it.
Day Two 21/06/2026 Day of the solstice
I woke up feeling energised and rested. I had my first drink at 9 am: lemon juice with warm water. Today I am only drinking water and infusions. I did some pranayama followed by a summer solstice meditation; it was beautiful. I also practised the summer yoga flow I created for my YouTube channel. I practised that flow yesterday and Friday as well because I am publishing it in English, French and Spanish. It's been nice to practise again. My last asana practice was on the 6th of June. I decided to take a break from asana practice for a little while because my shoulders and right elbow were nagging me. I thought it would be more challenging for me to rest because I am so disciplined and I love to move, but my body feels better for it. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed these few days of asanas; I had so much fun filming those videos.
Day Three 22/06/2026
I made a bone broth yesterday, and I will be drinking some today for my last day of fasting. I thought my body would ache a little from the three days of yoga practice, but that's not the case. Taking a time out is sometimes necessary. It is the same principle as with fasting I guess: removing something from the equation for a while to come back restored and rejuvenated, and with a different mindset.
Breaking the fast 23/06/2026
I broke my fast this morning around 9 am. All in all, I fasted for about 84 hrs. I had some chia seeds soaked in homemade yoghurt with tahin, and I will slowly start to incorporate food as the day goes on. This fast was a joyful experience; a beautiful way to welcome a new season and enter the second half of 2026. I feel like time has been flying so fast in the last six months, as though I am moving through a strange time warp. Observing the changing of seasons helps keep me grounded and grateful for all the beauty found in nature when I feel restless and overcome with a sense of urgency.
Hello summer.
