I was 21 the last time I stepped foot in The Netherlands – or should I say, Amsterdam. I went there for a long weekend with my boyfriend at the time, and we spent three days exploring the city – from its infamous coffee shops to quaint neighbourhoods and an unplanned visit to the red-light district. I have fond memories of that weekend, and I was left with the desire to return and visit more of The Netherlands. It took a quarter of a century, but I finally made it there again :D.
I did not go to Amsterdam this time around; instead, I discovered The Netherlands for the beautiful and lush country that it is. I toured the picturesque town of Woerden and The city of The Hague on the national mode of transportation: a proper Dutch bicycle, I cruised the canals of Gouda on a boat and was kindly treated to a slice of Dutch life by locals. Once again, my heart is full of gratitude for the opportunity to continuously travel and discover the endless beauty of this world.
