My 2017 In Films

Updated: Mar 12, 2021

I love films, I love going to the cinema, I binge-watch movies on Netflix like there is no tomorrow. When I moved to Spain at the end of 2014 I did not see the inside of a movie theatre for about a year! I went to volunteer at a retreat centre lost in the middle of the mountains which lead to a 12 months hiatus of movie watching altogether. I can hardly believe it myself. Don't get me wrong, it was great to be lost in nature for a while and completely disconnect with what had been my life for a long time.

This time away from city life left an imprint and when I moved back to Seville in January 2016 I hardly went to the cinema. I went once I think to see Mad Max: Fury Road (the original one is one of my many favourite films). It was ok, I wasn't mind blown by it, but it was a nice slow start back to cinemas. Visually, it is a pretty good film to see at the cinema. Then, in 2017, I decided it was time to get back into my movie watching ways and, although still a slow year, I did pretty good. I saw some amazing films. Although I would love to share my thoughts on some of them, I won't because I don't have the time and I also don't read reviews before going to see a film. I will put a 😍 by the ones I think are a must-see and đŸ’© by the ones I consider an absolute waste of time.
